Shadow Press Studio (“we”, “us”, “our”) respects your privacy. This policy explains what personal information we collect when you use shadowpress.co.za, why we collect it, how we look after it, and what rights you have under the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA).
1. Who we are
Shadow Press Studio is a South African apparel and merchandise studio operating from Randburg, Gauteng. We are the Responsible Party for the personal information described in this policy.

2. What we collect
We only collect what we need to serve you.
- When you place an order: your name, email address, delivery address, billing address and contact number. Payment card details are entered directly with our payment provider and never reach our servers.
- When you request a commission or quote: your name, email address, the brief you write, your budget range and deadline, and any artwork or reference files you upload.
- When you subscribe to our mailing list: your email address.
- When you simply browse: standard technical information such as your IP address, browser type, pages viewed and referring site, collected through cookies and analytics. See section 7.
3. Why we collect it
- To process, fulfil and deliver your order, and to contact you about it.
- To prepare and send you a quotation for custom work.
- To send you marketing emails, where you have consented to receive them.
- To meet our legal obligations, including keeping accounting records.
- To detect and prevent fraud, and to keep the website secure.
We rely on your consent for marketing, on the performance of our contract with you for orders and quotes, and on our legitimate interests for security and fraud prevention.
4. Artwork and design files you send us
When you upload artwork for a custom print, we store that file so that we can quote on and produce your job. We use it only for your order. We do not sell it, licence it, or reuse it for another customer. We may show finished work in our portfolio or on social media, but if you would prefer we did not, tell us and we will not.
You remain responsible for holding the rights to any artwork, logo or image you send us. Please see our Terms and Conditions.
5. Who we share it with
We share personal information only with the operators who help us run the business, and only to the extent they need it:
- Payment processing: Yoco Technologies (Pty) Ltd, and Paystack where enabled. They handle your card details under their own privacy policies and PCI-DSS obligations.
- Delivery: our courier partners receive your name, delivery address and contact number.
- Website hosting and email: our hosting provider stores the site and its database.
- Email marketing: our mailing list provider, where you have subscribed.
- Analytics: Google Analytics, subject to your cookie choices.
We do not sell your personal information to anyone, for any purpose.
6. Cross-border transfers
Some of the operators above store data outside South Africa. Where that happens, we take reasonable steps to ensure the recipient is subject to laws or binding agreements that give your information a level of protection comparable to POPIA.
7. Cookies
We use cookies that are strictly necessary to run the site (keeping your cart and your login working), and, with your consent, analytics and marketing cookies that help us understand how the site is used. You can accept or decline non-essential cookies through the banner shown on your first visit, and you can change your mind at any time through your browser settings.
8. How long we keep it
- Order and invoice records: five years, as required by South African tax law.
- Commission enquiries and artwork: two years from your last contact with us, unless you ask us to remove them sooner.
- Mailing list: until you unsubscribe.
9. How we protect it
The site runs over HTTPS. Access to the administration area is restricted, protected by login-attempt limiting, and monitored by server-level security software. Payment details are never stored by us.
10. Your rights under POPIA
You have the right to:
- ask what personal information we hold about you, and get a copy of it;
- ask us to correct information that is wrong or incomplete;
- ask us to delete information we no longer have a lawful reason to keep;
- object to us processing your information for direct marketing;
- withdraw your consent to marketing at any time, using the unsubscribe link in any email or by writing to us;
- complain to the Information Regulator.
To exercise any of these, email info@shadowpress.co.za. We will respond within a reasonable period and will not charge you for a first request.
11. The Information Regulator
If you are not satisfied with how we have handled your information, you may lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator of South Africa:

12. Children
Our store is not directed at children under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children without the consent of a parent or guardian.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it was last revised. Material changes will be announced on the website.
